We called in to Asdas. is it me I asked Mavis but  I just don’t seem inspired by Asda. She said to be honest I am not inspired by ANY Supermarket. Yep I know what you mean. It’s an array of endless buy one get one free or  get 3 for 2  or half price it never ends. A voucher for this a voucher for that. Long gone are days when  My mother gave me the order book to  drop into the Co Op shop on the way to school and pick up  the grocery and carry it home after school. I still remember her  share number 13835. Blimey that’s about  64 /5 years ago. I remember that but don’t ask me what I did yesterday Dahhh!

But as I said I was tempted not to post today,but see I did do  things after all.

I ve spent  most of the rest of the afternoon surfing  rubbish.

Had a nice meal  in town with Viv and Mike today. catching up on  news.

On the way home I  noticed a large chip in my windscreen. So that needs Auto Glass  ,I’ve contacted them and now waiting for a reply.

They came back to me. Its being done on saturday about 8 am.

Tomorrow it’s up early and off to  the hospital for mavis`s pre chemo blood tests.

Can I just say a thankyou for all your Birthday Cards. Thank you all .XXX.

After  sitting waiting again for the Nurse. at 8.30. We had a call at 10. She said she came but we were out. She rang the bell for ages. So I checked the bell. Sure enough  it wasnt working. I took the battery out  and it looks like some rain  got in so I cleaned the terminals ,,Bingo It works again. So she will try to get back again.

I am gobsmacked that Louis didnt bark. Normally he goes ballistic when  the gate opens. I don’t know how she managed it. But  don’t you think that after trying the bell and not getting a response  they would try the door knocker?? or is that just me!.

After all last week she didn’t even ring the bell she just rapped the glass with her knuckles and walked in. We are only sitting less than 6 feet away.

Anyway I am off to the chiropractic shortly. I’ve had  several cards today and loads of messages left  for my birthday. Thank you all.

I had some good news at the chiro . He said  he can see an improvement. I admit  that the back cracking bit he did wasnt so bad today. I tensed myself and waited for the pain. But it was a lot easier.. He is pleased with me.

The nurse came about 12.30, another nice nurse. They are so  caring. mavis has some inflammation around the Pic Line that she wasnt happy about. But we have to go to  Hospital on Friday so they can look at it then.

Took louis out  just after 6 pm Blimey! the wind is howling and its so cold. Its been raining hard to.

My son  phoned me to wish me happy birthday thats nice.

If you  remember my earlier post about  Orient Express  wanting to change my  booked date and for  £285.00 they would. Because it was booked by my son they did a  follow up  to him. He has had 3 calls from them. They said they can do things  under special circumstances. Its a pitty they dont tell the people on the end of booking and customer services.

They were certainly not helpful  to me. I would have thought  Chemo  was special circumstances. I am sure they wouldnt  apreciate  someone being sick on the train would they.

Anyway alls well that ends well.

We  took louis  out  into town. But  because of water leaks and roadworks the town is pretty much at a stand still. So many impatient  drivers!!!

We walked   to the Station  to purchase our tickets to London ready for our  trip on Sunday. Mavis is all excited. All it needs is Ms Piort to board the train to complete it.

Its just another chill out day.

I have found the grout in  shower tiles needs re doing today so that’s a new job for me. But  its got to wait till I get  back today.

I still havent found a new painting. But  I need a rest from it.

Well it was a good drive  there. I was called in on time. So far so good. I had to do a peripheral Test. Which  was  staring into a little yellow light and pressing a  button each time I was able to see a tiny light flash at random. All painless and quick. So how did I do  I said because I missed a few because it’s so fast.

You did really well she said .I said so did I pass. You did  Ok she said. We will see you in about a week. Yes I said and just what  will that entail. You will see  a consultant who will look at these results and decide  from there. I said I  visit the Paula Carr clinic annually and my last visit I was told No problems.

She said he may  decide that all is ok  and discharge you  perhaps for a call back in a year..

So I walked out  feeling a  bit perplexed. It would seem  that I am not to bad after all  and a little annoyed that  it was a waste of time. But  more news later. Mavis said I was only  trying to out do her. I said don’t worry I can have another go next week..

I had a couple of early  birthday cards.

on the bus coming  back to the park and ride we were engaged  in an interesting conversation with a guy  all about  motorcycle racing in the 60`s .He knew his stuff. Funny  you don’t know who you are sitting next to and where their lives have taken them do you.

Just heard Iran have stopped oil  deliveries. Oh dear I remember  when  we had petrol coupons. Nightmare. But I suppose it was inevitable. Now watch the ques on forecourts.

Ive done the tiles now It was only one and a half tiles. But I did the whole row just in case.

Had a late Brunch a full English. Made a nice change. Later we took louis out but it was a struggle for Mave,it was bright but Oh! so fresh. But now back in the warm again.

I must get ready for the Opthalmic appointment tomorrow. I read a bit on line at what may be involved, drilling  holes in the eye to drain fluid to reduce pressure  was a s far as I got  when I decided  a little knowledge was dangerous so I wont look again  ,at least not until I hear more tomorrow.

It was really cold out today that wind is spiteful.

We had a pleasant afternoon when martin and pam  came. tea and chocolate biscuits. And Louis was so good. he never barked at them. Just a little growl to start with then he just ;lay by mavis`s feet and went to sleep. We exchanged birthday presents. I  can’t open mine until Wednesday and he can’t until friday.

Its turned cold and wet now. I can hear the rain  beating on the windows. Louis wants a walk later. I  wonder if I just opened the gate  and let him go he would. But  I dont think so

Its going to be a chill out day ,no hospitals no doctors no nurses no chiro practics no opthalmics, Nothing. Hooray!!

I did a job today Ive had on my roundtoit  board,our coffee table is heavy its solid pine. Moving  like pulling it closer when sitting  is hard and pushing it round when I am hoovering  is   dodgy with my back .So today I fitted casters on it. Now a quick  poke with my foot sends it chasing louis. he wasnt amused. Ah!

A walk  on Tankerton Slopes with Louis  was nice,sun  was out and  quite warm.

Then a shopping trip . The prices seem to go up and  up by the hour  nowadays.

We have a visit scheduled  for the district nurse today,which we have had to chase up because it was not booked???

We havent  got a time. So I phoned The hospital. Sorry we can’t help  you must contact your GP.

Phoned  our surgery. Sorry we don’t have that information. . Can I have a number to contact her then.

Sorry but they don’t give a time, because they don’t know  about emergency calls or how long they will be with a patient. They just turn up  when they can sorry.

So we have to sit on our arse all day waiting for her to come, how stupid is that.

We tried to get this done at the surgery. Sorry we don’t have the equipment for that. We tried to get it done in hospital outpatients. Sorry we don’t do that ,it’s the district nurses domain.

Why can’t they give it  to me I will do it. Afterall when she had the plural drain in. I was taught how to do that every other day and that was a bit hairy with it being a vacuum container. That entailed  first  going through all the cleaning and dressing up in plastic sheets ,gloves and things. laying out all the packets of dressings etc and there was quite a few. Then I had to clamp off the drain tube hanging out of her rib cage. then clamp the valve tube on the bottle.  Then connect  the tube to the end of the valve in her ribs. Then remove the top clamp then remove the bottom clamp. From there on  I had to monitor the volume of liquid that drained into the bottle. It didn’t  drain really . Whoosh!! It was sucked out  because of the vacuum. Our first go Mavis was screaming at me to stop because when it was draining  the suction was pulling on the inside of her chest wall and she was in agony. After that we learnt that when it reached about 220 ml it was time to close the valve quickly. I had to do this every 48 hours  for weeks.

I said just call me Doctor Raymond..

So  as for this latest thing it involves flushing out the PICC line in her arm. Cant be that hard. Think of the money I would save them!!

Well its now mid afternoon still no sign of the nurse. I hate  days when you  listen for the doorbell jump at  shadows passing the window   sigh  when louis barks  at what you  hope is the caller you are expecting. What a bloody wasted day sitting here waiting,waiting ,waiting!!!

Its 4.15 After waiting ALL Day she arrived. It seems that  it’s a cock-up with records. They still have our  out of date doctors record. We changed him about  5 or 6 years ago and every time we are asked to confirm  our doctor we have to tell them that  it’s changed. Obviously its  hard to get that to  sink in. So  a Doctor knew  she was coming but not our doctor.

Ok next she said have you got the prescription. What prescription we asked. You  need the saline and syringes as a KIT.You should have been given these. Nope we weren’t given anything. OH ! dear then I can’t do anything today for you. ***!!**!! ***!! is what I thought a day wasted to red tape.

Now we have to wait in again tomorrow for her to try to get here before lunch. So we are not happy bunnies today. But at least the Nurse was pleasant and nice so  every cloud and all that!.
